The following is a list of our providers and their specialties:

Paul W. Murphy, M.D.
Paul W. Murphy, M.D.Provides psychiatric treatment of patients ages 15 through geriatrics.

Dr. Murphy is a graduate of University of Kansas School of Medicine and has been in practice in Wichita since 1987. He is certified by the American Psychiatric Association in Adult, Forensic, Geriatric, and Addiction Psychiatry. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Medical Association and the Sedgwick County Medical Society.

He is currently the Medical Director of the geriatric psychiatry unit at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Medical Director for psychiatry at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility, Medical Director of the psychiatric unit for the research program at Via Christi Health Systems, and serves as the psychiatric liaison for the Wichita Police Department. Dr. Murphy is experienced in assessment and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and various psychiatric illnesses in the elderly, and provides assessments and medication management for patients at a number of nursing home facilities throughout the state of Kansas.   

Dr. Murphy is board certified in Forensic Psychiatry since 1999. He provides evaluations for competency, expert legal testimony and record review and evaluation for the legal community throughout the state of Kansas.

Sheila Williamson, M.D.  
Sheila Williamson, M.D. Provides psychiatric treatment of ages 13 through geriatrics.

Dr. Williamson is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and has been in practice since 1979. She previously practiced medicine in Washington State for almost 30 years before returning to her native Kansas. She has been associated with Wichita Psychiatric Consultants since 2008 where she has enjoyed working with both patients and staff. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Medical Association, and the Sedgwick County Medical Society.

In addition to her outpatient practice, Dr. Williamson also provides psychiatric care for patients at area hospitals : Via Christi St. Joseph, St. Francis and Our Lady of Lourdes, as well as Wesley Medical Center. Furthermore, she cares for psychiatric patients at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas. Dr. Williamson also provides psychiatric care for geriatric nursing home patients.

Dr. Williamson provides psychiatric care for a large number of geriatric and adult patients. She also evaluates and treats adolescents down to age 13. She works closely with the patients and assures that she is easily accessible. She personally works closely with the patient’s families when there is dementia and chronic health problems related to the aging process. Her experience with this age group helps her assist families in making the difficult decisions that are required for their loved ones during difficult times.

Diane Gaunt, MSN, ARNP, BC
Diane Gaunt, MSN, ARNP, BCProvides treatment of patients ages 12 through geriatrics.

Diane is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. She is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 1991. Her prior experience includes working at the Menninger Foundation.

 Her current practice includes initial psychiatric evaluations and medication management for treatment of various psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and cognitive disorders in older adults. 

She is also experienced as a medical-psychiatric liaison, evaluating patients in local hospitals at the request of the attending physician. She uses a conservative approach with medications and prefers working as a partner with individuals in taking responsibility for their self care. 

Since Diane rounds at hospitals in the mornings, her appointments are limited to afternoons Monday thru Thursday.

Joan Hertline, MSN, ARNP, BC  
Joan Hertline, MSN, ARNP, BCProvides treatment of adults age 18 and older.

Joan is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in psychiatric and mental health nursing. She is board certified by American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has been with Wichita Psychiatric Consultants since 2000.

She has 30 years of experience working with severe and persistent mental illness including schizophrenia, bipolar illness and schizoaffective disorder, and long term mental illness population.

Joan provides initial psychiatric evaluations and medication management for a variety of psychiatric conditions including anxiety disorders, mood disorders and psychotic disorders.

She is an empathetic listener and patient educator. Joan believes it is important for patients to understand their illness and play a proactive role in their recovery.

Deborah Murphy, MSN, ARNP, BC 
Deborah Murphy, MSN, ARNP, BCProvides treatment of ages 12 through geriatrics.

Deborah has been in practice with Dr. Murphy since 1987, obtaining her Masters in Nursing in 2001 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. 

She provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for patients suffering from depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, and psychotic disorders.

 She also provides brief cognitive behavioral therapy for selected clients who also see her for medication management.

 Deborah encourages patients to educate themselves regarding their diagnosis and treatment options and prefers to collaborate with her clients regarding treatment.

Donna Powers, MSN, ARNP
Donna Powers, MSN, ARNPProvides treatment of patients ages 6 through adult.

Donna has been an ARNP since 19993 She provides medication management to children/adolescents and adults.

She specialized in Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Anxiety Disorder.

Her treatment philosophy is to assist clients to grow and develop their own strengths.

She works with her clients towards the most rapid resolution of symptoms allowing the individual to return to their normal life as soon as possible.

David Simmonds, Ph.D.
David Simmonds, Ph.D. Provides treatment of adults 25 and older.

Dr. Simmonds has 38 years experience as a clinical psychologist in the Wichita area.

His psychotherapy practices includes treatment of anxiety, depression, stress related disorders and relationship issues.

Dr. Simmonds has a particular interest in anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, panic attacks and social anxiety. His treatment approaches are cognitive and psychodynamic therapies.

Rebecca Harrel, LSCSW, LCMFT
Rebecca Harrel, LSCSW Provides treatment of ages 12 through geriatrics.

Rebecca is a licensed clinical specialist social worker and a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist. She has been in private practice since 1992 and with Wichita Psychiatric Consultants since 1999.

Prior to her private practice, Rebecca was with St Joseph Life Unit, assisting geriatric patients and families with issues of aging and living options. Rebecca continues to work with these clients with aging issues.

She provides family, re-married family therapy and divorce adjustment issues.

With both families and individuals, she assists with anxiety, depression, and self esteem issues and stress related disorders. In addition she provides treatment of the emotional and physical aspects of choice and critical illness, retirement and employment adjustment issues and grief and loss.

George Sevick, MS, LCMFT  
George Sevick, MS, LCMFTProvides treatment from ages 5 through adult.

George is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and in a private practice since 2007.

He specializes in working with individuals, couples and families. George utilizes a collaborative solution-focused approach which maintains that clients hold the keys to their success.

He provides treatment for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, marital/relationship discord, attention deficit disorders, development disorders including autism spectrum disorders, men’s issues, and issues with sexuality. George has significant experience with special needs children and child behavioral problems as well as assisting parent developing different skills for working with their children.

By providing therapy in a genuine and compassionate way, he hopes to help each client realize their potential and achieve their treatment goals.
